St. Gilgen

Picture
In 1977, I took an 8-month leave from my university studies for an adventure in Europe. Among the many things that I did, I worked as a chambermaid in a little guest house in St. Gilgen, Austria. This is a small community outside of Salzburg.
I was awestruck by the beauty of the area. I was also awestruck by the high standards for quality in everything - yes everything, including my work. I scrubbed those faucets so that not a fingerprint could be detected. I fluffed those comforters so that every inch was level no matter what the viewing angle. I cleaned pots & pans so that they sparkled. This was my awakening to the pursuit of excellence.
